MESA, Ariz. – A 36-year-old Mesa man died Saturday after falling approximately 200 feet off the Mogollon Rim, according to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.

Casey Frazier fell in an area about two miles west of Woods Canyon Lake.

A Coconino County sheriff's deputy and the Heber-Overgaard Fire Department were called to the scene. Medical personnel confirmed that Frazier died from injuries he sustained in the fall.

The deputy became aware that this incident occurred in both Coconino and Gila counties and requested assistance from the Gila County Sheriff's Office. Sgt. Terry Hudgens and the Tonto Rim Search and Rescue Technical Team responded.

Personnel from the Forest Lakes and Herber/Overgaard fire departments moved the victim approximately halfway up the incline. The Tonto Rim Rope Team assisted in extricating him to the top.

The Gila County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation into Frazier's death with the assistance of the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.

The Mogollon Rim is located northeast of Payson.
