MESA, Ariz. -- A hay fire in the East Valley is being allowed to burn itself out.
The fire near Warner and Hawes roads started Monday.
The Rural/Metro Fire Department has the fire contained and officials said it is not presenting a danger to any structures or the community.
Firefighters began spreading the hay out Wednesday morning to expedite the burning process.
This is generating a great deal of smoke and haze in the area. The communications centers in Gilbert and Mesa have received many calls from concerned residents.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
