PHOENIX -- A 62-year-old man had to be rescued from the Scottsdale Mountain Preserve after suffering what was thought to have been a stroke.
Both the Scottsdale and Phoenix fire departments responded just before 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
They were able to use GPS coordinates from a cell phone to locate the man approximately one mile from the Tom’s Thumb trailhead.
Along with his suspected stroke, responders said the man also suffered injuries sustained during a fall.
The man was flown off the mountain and taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn for further evaluation and treatment.
