Man sought in strong-armed robbery that injured woman

PHOENIX -- Police are searching for a man who robbed a woman of two gold necklaces at a Laveen gas station and left her injured.

Shortly after 4 p.m. June 2, the man approached the woman in her 60s at the Chevron near 51st and Southern avenues and ripped three gold necklaces off her neck. Police said she fell to the ground and broke her arm.

The man reportedly fled with two of the necklaces eastbound on Southern Avenue in a gray Dodge Charger.

The suspect is described as a black man between the ages of 17 and 22, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing about 170 pounds. He has brown eyes and black curly hair. He was shirtless and wearing an orange baseball cap, orange boxers and multi-colored beach shorts.

Witnesses could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
