TEMPE, Ariz. -- Police say a man was fatally shot by his half-brother at a Tempe park on the Fourth of July.
The family was reportedly celebrating the holiday at Kiwanis Park when an argument between the two brothers escalated.
According to Tempe police spokesman Lt. Michael Pooley, family members took the 33-year-old man to the area of Mill Avenue and Baseline Road to wait for medical personnel. Police responded around 11:30 p.m.
Pooley said 37-year-old Thomas Lee Woods Jr. was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder.
"It was meant to be a good time with the family and ended up turning into something horrible," Pooley said.
The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Martin Woods.
The investigation is ongoing.
