PHOENIX – A man involved in a deadly shooting and cover-up in New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina is now an ICE agent working in Phoenix.

Jeffrey Lehrmann pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of having knowledge of the conspiracy and not reporting it.

In 2005 officers shot and killed two civilians and wounded four others on a bridge. Lehrmann, a police detective at the time, compiled a false report.

Court records show he was also with colleagues who planted a gun. Lehrmann left the New Orleans Police Department in 2006. Another former officer pleaded guilty last month.

Lehrmann faces a maximum of three years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced in June.
