PHOENIX – A man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty in a theft case.
Richard Cory Barker, 46, pleaded guilty Thursday to three counts of theft of means of transportation, two counts of trafficking in stolen property, theft and forgery.
Police said Barker broke into lockers at health clubs in northeast Phoenix and took personal property, including car keys. He then stole several victims' cars and advertised them on Craigslist.
Undercover detectives posed as potential buyers and arrested Barker in January 2013. Police said credit cards belonging to one of the victims were found in his possession along with equipment used to forge documents.
According to court records, Barker has numerous felony convictions in California.
