SAGUARO LAKE, Ariz. -- A 42-year-old man drowned at Saguaro Lake on Saturday afternoon after jumping off a cliff, according to Officer Chris Hegstrom with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
According to witnesses, the man was with friends when he climbed a cliff that was 20 to 25 feet high.
He then jumped off the cliff into the water.
The victim did a flip off the cliff and hit the water landing on his back.
It happened near Sandy Beach at approximately 3:45 p.m.
Witnesses said he resurfaced briefly and then went under where he remained until divers from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office located and recovered the man's body.
Officer Hegstrom said the victim is from Scottsdale. His name has not been released.
