CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a man is accused of stabbing his girlfriend multiple times when she went to his Chandler apartment to confront him about harassing her.
Chandler police say 51-year-old Jose Amezcua-Delgado was booked into jail Saturday on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault.
At his initial court appearance Monday, Amezcua-Delgado was ordered held without bond. He doesn't have an attorney yet.
Police say a woman was stabbed after she went to Amezcua-Delgado's apartment early Saturday to ask him to stop harassing her while she mourned the loss of a family member.
The woman told police that Amezcua-Delgado stabbed her multiple times, forced her to the ground and strangled her to the point where she was losing the ability to breathe.
She suffered two punctured lungs and remains hospitalized.
