GLENDALE, Ariz. – A Maricopa County Sheriff's Office vehicle caught fire during a pursuit of burglary suspects on Tuesday.

MCSO spokesman Joaquin Enriquez said undercover units were doing surveillance training in the area of Bethany Home Road and 75th Avenue in Glendale when they saw a burglary in progress at a home.

The deputies chased three suspects on foot and took one into custody. The other two suspects got into a silver SUV and drove away.

Enriquez said another unit spotted the SUV and tried to catch up to it, but the unmarked MCSO vehicle got stuck in a ditch and caught fire.

The suspect vehicle got away.

No MCSO personnel were injured.

Glendale police have assumed the burglary investigation and are trying to apprehend the outstanding suspects.
