AVONDALE, Ariz. -- An employee with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is accused of sexually assaulting a woman and pointing a gun at her.
Avondale police arrested William Glen Edmond, 30, on Thursday. He is charged with sexual assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault, endangerment and criminal damage.
The 29-year-old victim told authorities that Edmond sexually assaulted her on June 30. She said during an argument later that day, he pointed a handgun at her in front of her three young children.
The woman claims she has been pepper-sprayed, tased and handcuffed by the suspect in the past.
Edmond is currently being held without bond. MCSO officials said his wages have been suspended and they plan to terminate his employment.
Edmond was hired by the sheriff's office in 2005 and was a detention officer assigned to the Custody Support Division. His main job was supervising inmates in the laundry area at the Lower Buckeye Jail.
