PHOENIX -- Four men were arrested Thursday for allegedly trying to bring nearly half a million dollars worth of marijuana into Arizona from Mexico.

The suspects were detained near the Barry Goldwater Air Force Range at about 2:30 p.m. Maricopa County sheriff's deputies seized approximately 503 pounds of marijuana.

The marijuana has a street value of approximately $452,000.

"My deputies are in the process of determining where the marijuana was going to be sold, because in the near future my office will be cracking down on the street level dealers in the Valley," Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.

The suspects are all Mexican nationals.

Gerardo Alcaraz-Lara, 47; Julio Cesar Martinez-Zuniga, 32; Ernesto Rodriguez-Berrelleza, 21; and Jesus Rodriguez-Berrelleza, 25, were booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail for transportation of marijuana.
