MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office has arrested four individuals who were allegedly planning to rob marijuana smugglers in the Arizona desert.
MCSO said Philadelpho Mesa Solorio, Victor Torres, Jose Ramon Cebreros-Sanchez, and Carlos Torres-Flores were arrested Monday night just east of Gila Bend.
The men reportedly planned to ambush marijuana smugglers at gun point and steal their drugs. They were then going to turn around and sell the marijuana in Phoenix.
MCSO said the suspects, who had formed what is known as a “rip crew,” admitted that they had planned to rob smugglers making their way north from Mexico.
The case is still being investigated by MCSO.
