GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- A deputy from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office shot and killed a homicide suspect Wednesday, according to Lt. Brandon Jones.

The scene is on Litchfield Road near Interstate 10.

Jones said at least one deputy was involved in the shooting at a convenience store.

No deputies were injured.

Jones said the suspect was going to be questioned in the death last week of Mark Meginley.

The dead suspect has been identified as 26-year-old Jesus Chacon, according to Jones. It's believed he stole a gun and used it to murder Meginley.

"We believe he's connected of Mark Meginley last Wednesday because he's wanted in connection for a burglary as well and in that burglary he stole weapon. We believe that weapon was the weapon used in the murder of Mark Meginley," said Lt. Jones.

Chacon was in a gold-colored SUV. When deputies attempted to stop and question Chacon, he pulled out a weapon. Deputies felt threatened and opened fire.

"When deputies approached him he was reaching for weapon in the front of his waistband. Deputies gave commands. He didn't respond to the commands, continued drawing the weapon," said Lt. Jones.

There was a child in the SUV with Chacon. The child was not injured.
