PHOENIX – A woman was hospitalized Wednesday after the SUV she was driving was hit by a light rail train.

Police said it appears as if the accident, which took place at around 3 p.m. at Central Avenue and Roosevelt, occurred when the driver of the SUV ran a red light.

Phoenix fire officials said there were a total of seven patients, but only the female driver suffered serious injuries. The woman, who is in her fifties, was transported to the hospital as a trauma patient.

Two others were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Phoenix police are investigating the incident.
