PHOENIX – Governor Jan Brewer is still denying reports that she is too sick to serve another term in office.
The investigative journalist behind the rumors says he stands by his story and says a photo of Gov. Brewer supports his claim.
The governor has made it clear she does not want to talk about her health any longer but questions continue to arise.
She says, “I'm not going to continue with this story. This is just outrageous."
Brewer said Friday she is done talking about her health but the source behind the claims that she is seriously ill is sticking to his story.
John Dougherty says, “I have a source who has ties directly to the 9th floor of the governor’s office who says the governor has told people she had a thyroid biopsy taken recently.”
A photo of the governor appears on KOLD channel 13 where you can see a bandage. Brewer was asked about the bandage in Tucson earlier this week and she said, “The one on my chest? I don't remember having a band aid on my chest."
The longtime investigative journalist turned democratic senate candidate Paul Dougherty first posted the claims on his Twitter and Facebook pages last week.
The Brewer campaign was quick to call them bogus and says Dougherty has "exactly zero credibility."
Democratic challenger Terry Goddard released his own medical records and asked Brewer to do the same but the governor says she will not. She says, “It is unfortunate we have gotten to this level. I'm doing great and that's the end of the story, I hope."
3TV’s Stacey Delikat asked the governor's office whether she had undergone a thyroid biopsy and her office referred us to their original statement, which was that the governor has no health problems that would prevent her from running.
