PHOENIX (AP) - Hundreds of people supporting Arizona's new law cracking down on illegal immigration are rallying at the state Capitol.
The supporters waved American flags and some carried signs that read "What part of illegal don't they understand?" Many also shaded themselves with umbrellas as temperatures hit 105 degrees.
Former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo of Colorado, GOP state Sen. Russell Pearce of Mesa and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio are scheduled to speak at the event.
The rally follows dueling events last weekend that drew thousands of opponents and supporters of the law.
The law, set to go into effect July 29, requires police enforcing other laws to check immigration status if they suspect someone is in the country illegally.
