GILA BEND, Ariz. -- A huge dust storm south of the Valley Wednesday afternoon shows monsoon activity is increasing around Arizona.

The images from Chopper 3, just after 4 p.m. near Gila Bend, showed a very well-defined all of dust.

The storm was at least 20 miles wide and 1,800 feet high, according to Jason Durand in Chopper 3.

The National Weather Service has issued a Blowing Dust Advisory until 8 p.m. Wednesday for Pinal County, southwest Maricopa County, including the communities of Casa Grande, Coolidge, Florence, Gila Bend, Maricopa, Sacaton and nearby portions of interstates 8 and 10.

It's unlikely any of that storm will make it into the Valley, according to 3TV Chief Meteorologist Royal Norman, but there is more weather activity around the state that could impact the Phoenix metro area Wednesday evening.
