SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Firefighters from four different cities were called to a neighborhood near Hayden and McDowell Roads at about 4 p.m. Wednesday for a house fire.
The fire was burning in a vacant home on 8300 block of Granada Road.
Crews from Scottsdale, Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa battled the blaze from inside and outside the home.
There was heavy fire with flames shooting out of the roof, thick black smoke from floor to ceiling and very intense heat.
Approximately 20 units responded to the first-alarm fire.
Crews were able prevent the surrounding houses from catching fire. No victims were located.
The house appeared to be undergoing renovation. There was a large dumpster in the front yard.
Neighbors said the home was recently sold.
One Firefighter was sent to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn for observation for heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
"We had heard that there was a power line to the rear of the house in the backyard in the alley that may have something to do with the cause of the fire," said Kelly Bagg with the Scottsdale Fire Department. "It may have fallen on the home but were not quite sure yet."
