CHANDLER -- A teen who was hit by a suspected drunk driver on Thursday was taken off life support and died early Sunday morning.

According to Chandler police, Cody Bishop, 18, was making a left turn into a business complex at Ray and Rural roads when he was struck by a westbound vehicle at approximately 10:15 p.m. Thursday.

Bishop was flown to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Chandler police Detective David Ramer said Bishop was taken off life support on Saturday and died early Sunday morning.

Family and friends gathered Sunday at the scene of the accident to remember the Corona Del Sol High School senior.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was identified as Steven Landrum, 23, of the Gila River Indian Community.

Ramer said Landrum was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was booked into the Maricopa County Jail for aggravated assault. He has now been charged with manslaughter.
