PHOENIX -- A hearing to decide the fate of a pit bull that bit a young boy in the face has been postponed.

The vicious dog hearing has been moved from March 13 to March 25 at Phoenix Municipal Court.

The attack happened Feb. 20 outside his baby sitter's house near Central Avenue and Broadway Road in South Phoenix. Micky was chewing on a bone when the 4-year-old tried to take it away.

The boy suffered broken bones in his face.

The petitioner has asked that the dog be euthanized, according to Melissa Gable with Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.

Gable said Tuesday that she did not know why the hearing was moved.

According to a Facebook post by a group trying to save the dog, the Phoenix City Court ruled Monday that The Schill Law Group, on behalf of their client The Lexus Project, will be allowed to intervene on behalf of Micky.

"This means Mickey [sic] will have an attorney fighting for him in Court!" the Facebook update said.

Micky will remain in MCACC's care until the court renders its decision.
