SAN LUIS, Ariz. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of San Luis discovered 1,041 pounds of marijuana co-mingled within a shipment of scrap aluminum.

Officers referred the 44-year-old driver of a Peterbilt tractor trailer filled with pallets of aluminum cans for a secondary inspection on Thursday and found 44 packages filled with marijuana worth nearly $469,000.

The drugs and vehicle were seized.

The driver, who is a Mexican national, was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
