GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The office manager for a school tuition organization is accused of stealing more than a half a million dollars of scholarship funds meant for needy students.

Marion Holmes, 60, of Goodyear, has been indicted on 35 counts, including fraudulent schemes and artifices, multiple counts of theft, multiple counts of forgery and charges related to unauthorized use of a credit card.

Goodyear police began investigating Holmes' financial dealings after the director and board members of Arizona School Choice Trust (ASCT) contacted them about missing funds last May, according to police spokeswoman Lisa Kutis.

Police allege that Holmes misappropriated more than $529,000 of ASCT's funds to her own use.

ASCT provides scholarship assistance to students in need so that they may attend private schools of their choice.
