PHOENIX (AP) -- The U.S. Census Bureau says Goodyear and Gilbert are among the nation's fastest-growing cities.
In figures released Thursday, Goodyear ranks sixth and Gilbert 12th for the country's 15 fastest-growing municipalities for 2012-13.
The census measured population growth from July 1, 2012 to July 1, 2013.
Goodyear had a 4.8 percent increase for a population total of nearly 73,000.
Gilbert's population climbed 4 percent to almost 230,000 residents.
By population increase, Phoenix grew by nearly 25,000 and now has more than 1.5 million residents.
The Census Bureau also says 14 cities joined the 50,000-plus population club including Casa Grande, Arizona.
