GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Investigators with the Glendale Fire Department have arrested a suspect who reportedly admitted to setting fire to a shed where his friend was living.
Glendale fire spokesman Michael Young said crews were dispatched to a residence near Glendale Avenue and 59th Drive after a fire was deliberately started in a storage shed on April 30.
The fire quickly spread to dry oleanders, others storage sheds on the property and an occupied duplex.
The suspect, who lives at the home with his girlfriend, admitted to starting the fire. A mutual friend who was living in the shed suffered minor burns to his leg but refused treatment by paramedics.
Witnesses identified the suspect, who fled the scene prior to the arrival of firefighters and police officers. The suspect's name has not been released.
Glendale fire officials and police are working together as the suspect faces multiple criminal charges in connection with this case.
