PHOENIX -- Arizona residents who are hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday will be enjoying lower prices at the gas pump.
According to AAA Arizona, gas prices across the state have decreased for a third straight week.
The statewide average dropped another 6.4 cents this week to $3.503 per gallon, which is 22 cents lower than a month ago.
“Arizona’s average is now within 18 cents of year-ago prices,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “This is great news, as nine out of 10 of the 850,000 Arizonans traveling for Thanksgiving are projected to drive to their destination next week. Our forecast revealed that travelers are looking to do more with less this year, and the recent decreases at the pump are helping make that possible.”
Tucson has the lowest average gas price in the state at $3.271 per gallon, while Flagstaff has the highest average price at $3.767 per gallon.
Arizona isn’t the only state enjoying lower prices at the pump, as the average nationwide price of gas decreased 3 cents this week to $3.438.
South Carolina has the lowest average gas price in the continental U.S. at $3.110 per gallon. New York residents pay the most for gas, with an average price of $3.971 per gallon.
