GM Arizona IT Innovation Center
2900 W. Geronimo Place, Chandler
CHANDLER, Ariz. -- General Motors just opened a brand new facility in Chandler near the Loop 101 Santan Freeway and Chandler Boulevard, and they are looking to hire.
"We were looking for an area with a number of schools within a 200-mile radius, and so the Greater Phoenix area in Chandler met those needs, and we've been happy with the graduates we have so far," GM Vice President Randy Mott said.
The company is looking to fill around 500 IT jobs within the next three years.
"It's application development, so it's software development -- all of the tools our people use across the company from design engineer to manufacturing to tools used in a dealership and a consumer would use online," Mott explained.
Knowing many freshly graduated IT students come out of Valley schools, Mott said you should not wait to sign up. Do it now, and your first job could be with General Motors.
"You can apply now out there on our GM website, under careers, and it'll highlight the jobs in GM …. We continue to look for talent on the experience level as well as the college level," Mott said.
"Today's event speaks volumes about the business-friendly environment we have created in Arizona, including our high-tech talent and competitive cost of operating," Gov. Jan Brewer said. "I could not be prouder of our state and what this announcement means for the future of Arizona’s economy."
"GM is exactly the type of technology employer we need in Chandler and in our state," Chandler Mayor Jay Tibshraeny said. "The GM Innovation Center is a perfect complement to Chandler's Price Corridor, and furthers the city's reputation as a regional hub for innovators and world-class IT professionals."
The Chandler innovation center is the fourth to be opened by GM since the company began transforming itself in 2012. Other locations include Austin, Texas; Roswell, Georgia; and Warren, Michigan. These facilities enable GM to in-source the company's IT capabilities, strengthening its global competitiveness.
