PHOENIX -- Those who knew firefighter Brad Harper say they are devastated by the loss.

However, on Monday night two of Harper's closest friends shared some of their fondest memories with 3TV.

They tells us Harper always wanted to be a firefighter, not just any firefighter, but a Phoenix firefighter.

"He didn't want to work for other places. For almost as long as I've known him he wanted to be with Phoenix Fire Dept," said Tim McCord, a childhood friend.

McCord and Harper met nearly a decade ago, the two even lived together before Harper married his high school sweetheart, Lena, just 6 months ago.

The news of his death came as a shock on Sunday morning, after Harper was somehow pinned between two vehicles while fighting a fire.
But McCord says Harper died doing what he loved. He also loved God, his family and friends, and had an awesome sense of humor.
"Brad's looking down on us calling us a bunch of girls for crying over him. He's fine, he's with the lord," said McCord.
Jake Fenton, Harper's best friend of 18 years and best man at his wedding says he'll miss so much, including hiking, and coaching junior high basketball together.
"It was fun to do that with him, play sports with him. I'm going to miss everything, really," said Fenton
