PHOENIX -- Paramedics responded to help a new mom-to-be and a baby impatient to make his or her grand entrance into the world -- along Interstate 10.
The Fort McDowell Casino News Chopper was overhead as paramedics met the mom on eastbound I-10 near 59th Avenue Tuesday morning.
A Goodyear police officer had stopped the car the woman was in because it was driving on the median.
According to the Department of Public Safety, the driver was trying to get his pregnant neighbor, who was in labor, to the hospital. The freeway, however, was clogged and crawling.
The officer contacted the paramedics. Within minutes of their arrival, the ambulance -- with still-pregnant mom safely on board -- was on its way to a local hospital.
