TEMPE -- In the wake of a series of sex crimes near Arizona State University, The District on Apache is hosting free women's self-defense and safety workshops open to ASU women.

Women can come and learn some interactive self-defense techniques from Fight Ready Mixed Martial Arts. They also will get some great safety tips from the Tempe Police Department and the ASU Wellness Department.

The events are free and open to all ASU women. Space is limited, so it is recommended that interested attendees show up early.

Classes will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 23-24, 5-7 p.m., in the clubhouse at The District on Apache.

Address: 977 E. Apache Blvd, Tempe
