PHOENIX -- The former math teacher at Brophy College Preparatory who is accused of sexually assaulting two students was in court Thursday.
Dan P. Whitehead entered a not guilty plea to charges of sexual assault, attempted sexual abuse, furnishing harmful items to a minor, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He’s due back in court on November 14.
Last November, two former Brophy students told school officials that Whitehead had touched their genitals against their will while they were at his home in the 1980s.
Whitehead was subsequently fired, and school officials notified police.
The victims did not originally want to speak with police, but eventually the victims and several witnesses came forward and an investigation took place.
Authorities went on to learn that Whitehead would invite the victims over to his house for various reasons. He would then allegedly show the teens pornography and give them alcohol while attempting to fondle them.
Whitehead was eventually arrested earlier this month and booked into the Maricopa County Jail.
