FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- An 18-year-old Flagstaff man has pleaded not guilty in the strangulation death of his mother.
The Arizona Daily Sun reports that Zachariah Pine entered the plea during an arraignment Monday in Coconino County Superior Court.
Police said Pine called 911 on Feb. 20 to report that 52-year-old Becky Pickering wasn't breathing.
She was found unconscious and lying on the kitchen floor with a pool of blood around her head.
Responders were unable to revive her, and she died the next day at a hospital.
The Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office said she died from strangulation.
