PHOENIX -- Monsoon season starts on Sunday, which is bad news for people who don't like the rain, but great news for Arizona's resident storm chasers. As if that wasn't enough, storm chasers have something else big to get excited for this weekend.

Storm chasers and weather enthusiasts will come together this weekend in Chandler for the first ever Arizona ChaserCon.

The event is organized by local storm chaser Christian Cleary, who shares out his storm-chasing pictures and video on his Monsoon Madness website.

Storm chasers like Cleary travel in to the storms most people run away from, which leads to some incredible opportunities for weather pictures.

In addition to getting local storm chasers together to talk and learn from each other, Cleary said ChaserCon has a purpose for those who don't chase storms, too.

"It's also really just to spread awareness to the general public of our severe weather," Cleary said.

Speaking guests include well-known local storm chasers, meteorologists from the National Weather Service and 3TV's Royal Norman. The event is free and the public is welcome. For more information, visit the ChaserCon website.
