SUPERIOR, Ariz. -- Firefighting efforts at the 257 fire just south of Superior are slowing down.
Little fire activity was observed on Friday, as firefighters spent time patrolling, mopping up, and removing equipment from around the line.
Demobilization was also a priority, with resources being sent to the Poco fire just northeast of the town of Young.
The 257 fire has been burning since June 10. The fire covers 2,860 acres, but firefighters have managed to contain 85 percent of the blaze.
On Saturday, the Arizona Central West Zone Incident Management Team will hand over management of the 257 fire to the Globe Ranger District of the Tonto National Forest.
Firefighters will remain in the area to monitor the fire and rehabilitate land that was disturbed by fire suppression efforts.
