PHOENIX -- Film Bar, located on Second Street in the Roosevelt Row area of Downtown Phoenix, gives visitors the chance to go out for drinks and a movie -- all in one location.
“We were lacking a place like this,” said Kelly Aubey, owner of Film Bar. “I’ve been to some places in Europe that are in a similar vein, and I decided to bring that version of it to Phoenix.”
Film Bar plays a combination both of old and new movies and films. The new movies aren’t ones that are playing in mainstream theaters. New movies at Film Bar include independent and foreign films. Some of the older genres include cult and classic films.
Film Bar is open Monday-Sunday, but is especially popular during First Fridays in Downtown Phoenix.
“I tried to name this place clearly to describe the experience. People are catching on to it for sure," Aubey said.
When going out to Film Bar, guests have a variety of options. They can choose to come just for a drink at the bar, just to watch a movie, or to do both. Visitors are also allowed to bring drinks inside the theater.
As the holidays approach, Film Bar will be showing seasonal movies. Look out for Halloween classics in October and more traditional Christmas movies during the Christmas season. For a full list of coming movies, click here.
Movie tickets cost $8. You may by tickets at the door, but it is advised to purchase online for busy nights like Friday and Saturday. To buy tickets ahead of time, visit: http://www.thefilmbarphx.com/calendar/.
