PHOENIX (AP) -- Authorities say members of a family were seriously hurt in a collision after their vehicle had a tire blowout and then crossed a freeway median in central Phoenix.
The Department of Public Safety says several people were ejected in the rollover accident that occurred Thursday morning on Interstate 10.
DPS spokesman Raul Garcia says the family's vehicle was traveling westbound when the tire blowout caused it to go across the median and into eastbound traffic lanes.
Garcia says two adults and two children have been hospitalized. A Phoenix Fire Department says the four were taken to trauma centers with serious injuries and that a fifth person was less seriously injured.
