PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. -- A Mesa man is accused of molesting a 4-year-old girl while staying at the family's home in Pinal County.
On March 17, a woman contacted the Pinal County Sheriff's Office and said that Zachary Johns, 30, had molested her daughter, according to spokesman Officer Pat Ramirez.
The woman said her daughter had recently disclosed that Johns had showered with her, kissed her and had her perform a sex act. She said Johns was a friend of the family and had lived in their home from July through December 2013.
Ramirez said detectives interviewed the girl and told them the same details.
Detectives contacted Johns on Monday and he admitted to molesting the child, according to Ramirez. Johns told detectives that he was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs at the time.
Johns was arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail.
"Zachary Johns betrayed the trust of this victim and her family," Sheriff Paul Babeu said. "He then tried to blame the young victim for what occurred. There is no excuse to ever inappropriately touch a child. Zachary is a sexual predator who is now behind bars where he belongs."
