GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- During the early morning hours of Monday morning someone stole a Humboldt 5001 Nuclear Density Gauge which was secured in the bed of a pickup truck.

The truck was at 13971 W. Celebrate Life Way.

The device, which is commonly used in the construction industry, is housed in a yellow case inside a metal diamond-plate box.

The item contains small amounts of radioactive material which is encased within the device. If tampered with, it could pose health risks with prolonged direct exposure.

The device does have a safety mechanism designed to protect people when the gauge is being used as intended.

The area in which the device was taken has been monitored and no abnormal radioactive levels were detected.

There is no immediate danger in the area.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of this device is encouraged to call Goodyear Police at 623-932-1220.
