PHOENIX – Phoenix firefighters rescued a dog that was trapped inside a burning house Friday afternoon.

Crews responded to a home near Cactus Road and 31st Avenue at approximately 2:15 p.m. and found a working attic fire, according to Capt. Scott McDonald with the Phoenix Fire Department.

The residents were not home when the fire started.

McDonald said the house was severely damaged and is uninhabitable at this time.

The rescued dog is expected to be OK, but another dog is missing.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Investigators are checking to see if there was an electrical malfunction in the attic.
