PHOENIX -- Firefighters rescued a dog from a burning apartment in Phoenix Friday night.
When the Phoenix Fire Department arrived at the apartment complex on 20th street north of Sweetwater Avenue about 5:45 p.m., they found a unit filled with smoke, according to Fire Capt. Tony Mure.
Firefighters searched the unit and determined no one was home, but they found the dog in the back room. Mure said the dog was lying down and barely breathing.
Firefighters rushed the dog outside and used a "Fido Bag" to revive it. Multiple Phoenix Fire Department vehicles are equipped with Fido Bags, which were donated by the Fetch Foundation.
Neighbors contacted the owner of the dog, and she rushed home to find firefighters resuscitating her pet.
The dog is expected to make a full recovery, according to Mure.
He said the fire appeared to be accidental.
