PHOENIX -- Maricopa County sheriff's deputies have arrested two men in connection with the armed robbery of a Subway employee in the Anthem Marketplace last week.

It happened Friday, June 6 outside a Safeway store in the shopping center at Anthem Way and Gavilan Peak Parkway.

Deputies arrested and booked Alex Robert Peters, 35, and Michael A. Farris, 28, on a variety of charges over the weekend.

The manager of the Subway restaurant in Anthem Marketplace was walking to a bank in the complex to make a deposit when one of the men allegedly robbed her.

Police said one of the suspects hit the woman first with his fist and then again with a handgun before taking money from her.

The suspects then fled the scene in a gray or light blue Honda Element.
