PHOENIX -- A survivor of a horrific crash that killed four motorcycle riders more than two years ago was honored on Friday.
Ernie Lizarraga got a big surprise when he received an honorary membership to the Wind and Fire Motorcycle Club.
Club members gave him a jacket and a membership card.
The former Phoenix Fire Department captain nearly died when a dump truck driver plowed into him and a group of motorcycle riders on the Carefree Highway back in 2010.
Lizarraga was in a coma for two weeks. A brain injury still affects his ability to speak.
But Ernie is back on his motorcycle now.
"I've been riding bikes for many years and then I took a break for a 2 1/2 years and then they had my bike converted to a trike and it feels so good to ride again and to have the wind in my face again," said Lizarraga.
