PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) -- Police say a man tried to buy merchandise in Prescott with $100 bills that had the wrong image.
Authorities say they responded to two attempts last week to pass counterfeit bills at Prescott businesses.
The Daily Courier reports that an officer who responded to a thrift store noted that one of the bills had an image of Abraham Lincoln in the watermark on the right side of the bill instead of Benjamin Franklin.
The officer also wrote in a report that the bill was softer than standard currency and had been printed in a lighter color.
A grocery store manager noticed the same flaws with another $100 bill at the second business.
Police say descriptions of a man who fled from both businesses match. No charges have been filed.
