PHOENIX -- A construction worker had to be rescued Saturday morning after falling into a trench.
The Phoenix Fire Department said the man was awake and alert when they arrived, but he was about ten feet below the ground.
“This is what we call ‘Class C’ type of soil. So what that means is it’s just like a loose type of dirt, and so, all the way around that area, some of the dirt broke away and he slipped and fell into the hole,” said Capt. Jonathan Jacobs with the Phoenix Fire Department.
After about 30 minutes, the man was removed from the trench, placed in an ambulance, and taken to the hospital.
He is expected to recover safely.
