FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Authorities say a Coconino County Detention Center inmate has died from an apparent suicide.
Detention center officers were conducting scheduled security and welfare checks on inmates shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday when they found the inmate unresponsive in his cell, according to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.
Officers administered CPR until paramedics arrived.
The inmate was pronounced dead just before 3 a.m.
The cause of death is still under investigation but it appears to be a suicide, according to the sheriff's office.
