FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Authorities in Coconino County are trying to locate a Minnesota man who was reporting missing.
On Monday, Forest Service personnel found a 2004 Silver Audi four-door sedan parked in the lot of the Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Overview located off of Highway 89A. They placed a sticker on the windshield of the vehicle indicating that overnight parking or camping in the lot was prohibited.
On Tuesday, they found that the vehicle had not been moved and the sticker was still in place and reported this to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.
It was determined that the vehicle belonged to Shaun Rentz, 27. According to family members, Rentz was last seen in Minnesota at about 6 p.m. Saturday. He was supposed to meet some friends that evening and did not arrive at the designated location. He also was supposed to move in with some friends in Minnesota on Monday morning and did not show up.
Rentz has not contacted anyone and it appears that his cellphone has been turned off, according to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.
Rentz is described as a white male with brown hair, blue eyes, 6 feet 4 inches tall and about 215 pounds.
Coconino County sheriff's deputies and detectives, Coconino County Search and Rescue personnel, and an Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue helicopter and crew are conducting intensive ground and air searches.
Anyone with information regarding Rentz's whereabouts or the circumstances leading up to his disappearance is urged to call the Coconino County Sheriff's Office at 928-774-4523 or toll free at 1-800-338-7888 or Flagstaff/Coconino Silent Witness at 928-774-6111.
