TEMPE, Ariz. -- Prom season is upon us and as any girl or woman will tell you, prom is all about the dress.
But dresses can be expensive, especially when you consider shoes and accessories, too.
That's why the East Valley Women's League is hosting its 13th Annual Cinderella Affair this weekend.
Designed to ensure that every girl has an unforgettable dress for her prom, the Cinderella Affair is an all-volunteer project in collaboration with the East Valley Women's League (EVWL), Tempe Community Council (TCC) and the City of Tempe.
"Going to the prom is a milestone in every high schooler's life and we want to be sure that everyone who wants to go has the dress and accessories they need to make the night memorable," EVWL president Amy Grossklaus said in a news release. "During the past 13 years, the Cinderella Affair has made thousands of young women's prom dreams come true. With the aid of local businesses and the community at large, EVWL and TCC can continue to make these girls' dreams a reality."
At this year's event high-school juniors and seniors will be able to choose from more than 2,000 dresses and bins upon bins of sparkly accessories. All the girls need to take home a free prom gown is a valid school ID.
