KINGMAN, Ariz. -- A Golden Valley woman and her boyfriend were arrested on various charges Wednesday after the Mohave County Sheriff's Office received a report that she stole her children's Christmas money.

About 2:20 p.m., deputies responded to a theft report at a home on the 4300 block of Roosevelt Street in Kingman.

Deputies contacted two people at the home who said they had given $10 to each of their four grandchildren for Christmas.

The grandparents said the children's mother, Amanda Sue Rick, 31, had taken $30 from the three youngest children.

Rick reportedly stopped by the home for a while with her boyfriend, Cruz Alberto Ruvalcaba, 29, also of Golden Valley, and the couple left on foot.

Deputies learned the children are in their father's custody.

They located Rick and Ruvalcaba in the 4200 block of Roosevelt Street, and found that both had outstanding warrants issued by Kingman Municipal Court.

Rick and Ruvalcaba were taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of syringes, according to the sheriff's office.

Rick reportedly told deputies the children gave her the money so she could get a motel room.

She was arrested for four misdemeanor warrants and charges of felony possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of probation, and three failures to pay fines.

Ruvalcaba was arrested for two misdemeanor warrants and charges of felony possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of probation, and a failure to pay fines.
