CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler police are asking for the public's help to identify a bank robbery suspect.
Detective Seth Tyler said an older white male walked into the Chase Bank inside the Fry's grocery store near Rural and Ray roads at around 2 p.m. on Aug. 20.
Authorities said the suspect approached the teller counter and displayed a demand note. He began hacking uncontrollably into a bandanna and then placed a green bag on the counter and told the teller to put it behind the counter so others would not see what she was doing.
The teller gave the suspect a known quantity of cash and he walked out of the store.
The suspect is described as a white male, late 50s, about 6 feet tall with an average build, a white goatee and stooped shoulders. He was last seen wearing a blue bandanna under a white baseball-style hat, black sunglasses, a blue long-sleeve button-down shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes. He was holding a red bandanna in his left hand and his right hand was wrapped in a gray sweatshirt.
Anyone with information about the suspect's identity is asked to contact the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. Silent Witness is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest or indictment.
