CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Chandler police have apprehended a man suspected of stabbing his ex-girlfriend over the weekend.

Early Saturday morning, Sabrina Espanio, 21, went to visit her ex-boyfriend, Victor Jacome, 18, at his home near Elliot and Dobson roads.

Espanio decided to leave the house just after 5 a.m., which is when Jacome allegedly stabbed her several times in the back and upper torso.

Espanio ran to a nearby Circle K and police were called. She was taken to a hospital where she underwent surgery for her wounds and is currently recovering.

Officers went to Jacome's home but he was not there.

Following up on leads and tips, the Chandler Police Department's Criminal Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service located Jacome near 27th Avenue and Earll Drive in Phoenix where he surrendered without incident Tuesday afternoon, according to police spokesman Sgt. Joe Favazzo.

He was booked for aggravated assault/domestic violence.
